Introduction

Our family had the privilege of spending a week at the Philmont Training Center, in New Mexico, in September 2000. This was the first ever Scouting for the Homeschooled Conference. It was the beginning of a fellowship with other homeschooled scouters. Read more here.

 

David and Karen live in the Chicago area with their three sons, Tim, Jeff and Doug. They have been involved as leaders in Boy Scouts of America since 1996. They have been homeschooling parents since 1999. This website and the accompanying email list were established at about that same time.

Everything I Need to Know
I Learned at Scout Camp:

  • Everyone is good at something.
  • Take a buddy with you, it's safer that way.
  • Old Friends are just as important as new friends.
  • Marshmallows taste better when toasted over a fire.
  • Always check your shoes before you put your feet in them.
  • Be a sibling to every scout.
  • Don't pick the wild flowers.
  • Reading the trail signs helps you find your way.
  • When you're making something, get your hands dirty.
  • After being away for more than two days, home is almost like heaven!
